"I am a raising knob (freshman) at The Citadel and am now ready to go. Before I went to Salisbury Tutoring Academy I only had one problem academically, other than the occasional lack of focus; the problem was in reading. My weaknesses were understanding the material, recalling, spelling, and reading aloud without stumbling every few words.
We all have weaknesses. You can fix yours"

The Salisbury Tutoring Academy is a positive, warm, and inviting place.

The Salisbury Tutoring Academy is a positive, warm, and inviting place. When I was in their waiting area, I experienced parents who were pleased. There was even an announcement to all parents. One of the Academy's students had just received a large scholarship. In the waiting area, he spoke to parents and attributed his success to his study habits that he had learned from the Academy.

Here is my recommendation STA.

Six months ago, my son was diagnosed with mild ADD. My husband and I had always suspected that he may be a candidate for ADD based on his short attention span and frustration with homework. For us, this was a scary time because of unknown and unfamiliar territory. Fortunately for us, we had a friend who recommended Salisbury Tutoring Academy. We knew our son needed additional help outside the school/classroom environment. We made the appointment with STA. At this appointment, we found Beatrice Hair to be a passionate and caring person who truly wants to help all students, particularly ADD students, reach their potential; building on their strengths and growing their weakness. We love that STA does not accept that brick wall as a stopping point, but allows our son to find a strategy to climb over it. We have seen our son go from not wanting to go to tutoring because his friends would think he was dumb to be excited that he has reached his weekly tutor goals. This also has made homework time easier at home because of his growing confidence in himself. As parents we want to give our children the best start in life. For us, STA has helped our son to have a more solid foundation to that start.

My name is Allie and I have been a student at Salisbury Tutoring Academy.

My name is Allie and I have been a student at Salisbury Tutoring Academy for approximately six months. As a result of my time spent at the academy, my SAT score increased 290 points. This drastic increase resulted primarily from the guidance and tutoring I have received from my tutors. I recommend the STA not only because of my improvement on the SAT, but also because of my improvement as a person. I have succeeded and exceeded my goals while attending the STA, and I believe others should benefit from the kindness and leadership I was given. I feel honored to say I am apart of the STA family and I am thankful for the accomplishments they have helped me achieve. I am actively involved in cross-country, soccer, and track. I am a leader involved with student government and the Key Club. I am also a member of the National Honor Society and have been nominated to be a Junior Marshall.

I was helped at the Salisbury Tutoring Academy in math.

My name is Lindsay. I was helped at the Salisbury Tutoring Academy in math. I am now a student at UNC-Chapil Hill. I received a scholarship of 111,600.00 to Mars Hill and graduated with the best all around female senior and my high school. I would definitely recommend STA to anybody who asked. Since I have been coming my EOG scores have risen from a 73 to a 97 It has truly helped me in reading and math. I enjoyed the course thoroughly!

My name is Jimillia Wilson and I am a student at the Salisbury Tutoring Academy (STA). My grades used to be E’s, D’s and C’s and are now A’s and B’s. I have gained organizational skills and confidence thanks to the guidance and concern of the STA. I recommend the STA because the one-on-one atmosphere helps students much more than a crowded classroom. I could not have reached these new levels without the love and determination of the STA. I am so grateful because I now have the opportunity to go to college. I owe a lot to the Salisbury Tutoring Academy for the close one-on-one attention. I have been going to the STA for over eight years. This is where I met the tutors and the support team that helped me become the student I am today. My first days were a struggle, as I did not want to be at the STA, and I did not really want to listen. The constant battle with my stubbornness finally ebbed, and I slowly began to work to get my grades in order. I will always remember my tutors as teachers who inspired me enough to get my act together. I will be forever grateful for all their help. Math is one of my least favorite subjects, and I have now even been able to understand logarithms and Trigonometry with relative ease. I am most proud of being on East Rowan High School’s honor roll, publishing my poem The Artist’s Soul, and achieving 630 points on my verbal SAT. Without the help and constant urging of the Salisbury Tutoring Academy, I would not have made it as far as I have!!

Before I came to tutoring, math was really hard for me to make good grades.

Before I came to tutoring, math was really hard for me to make good grades. At school there is one teacher and twenty kids. At tutoring I get one-on-one attention. I learned more with my tutor than at schools with my teacher. It makes school a lot easier. In third grade school got really hard and I stopped making straight A’s. Since coming to tutoring, it has made things so much easier that I finally made straight A’s again.

After spending several years trying to find someone to help our daughter

Dear Mrs. Hair, After spending several years trying to find someone to help our daughter with her math fears, we were very successful when we encountered your Academy. Emily simply needed one on one help with her math and you all have helped her become much more confident. She moved from having a math block to understanding it and improving not only her pre-calculus score but also her SAT! Our thanks is extended to all of you for your sincerity and professional ways of accomplishing your goals to help each and very student succeed. We highly recommend your learning academy to any student that might want extra professional assistance in a variety of subjects. We feel that Emily is now more prepared for her college subjects. Thank you for letting her develop her confidence. You truly do make a difference in each and every child's future that you encounter. May God Bless you in the future, Love, Emily’s parents.

I have been a student at the Salisbury Tutoring Academy for 10 months.

My name is Daniel. I have been a student at the Salisbury Tutoring Academy for 10 months. Since starting tutoring last summer, my report card grades have been all A’s in all subjects. My reading comprehension has improved leaps and bounds thanks to the guidance of the STA. I am much more at ease in the classroom because I stay a step ahead through my plan with my tutor. School is so much more fun and homework is pleasant. I’ve learned that it is okay to need help and I am thankful that my parents found the STA.

My son is nine years old and has been attending the STA since early second grade.

My name is Kim. My son is nine years old and has been attending the STA since early second grade. His performance at school was adequate but I felt something was not exactly in place with his thought process, especially in reading comprehension. Mrs. Hair tested him and knew immediately what the problem was and set a plan in place to correct it. What we receive at the STA is more than general tutoring. It is expertise about children and their learning patterns and problems. Mrs. Hair is always available to discuss new situations as they arise. My son has made great strides in his educational process and we are proud to say he enjoys school and makes good grades.

Thank you

Thank you for offering various tutoring experiences at Salisbury Tutoring Academy. Benton has really enjoyed the “Enrichment Plan” that you developed specifically for him. To our delight, he considers the program fun and looks forward to his appointment with his tutor. In less than four months, he has taken tremendous strides in his spelling abilities, his joy of writing has increased and he has experienced a boost in his confidence level across the board. I would encourage all parents to consider Salisbury Tutoring Academy to help their child be the best they can be!

I would encourage all parents

I would encourage all parents to enroll their children at Salisbury Tutoring Academy because it can either help them or challenge them depending on what they are there for.

When my daughter Laura was in the 3rd grade I knew she was beginning to struggle with math.

When my daughter Laura was in the 3rd grade I knew she was beginning to struggle with math. Throughout the school year I kept thinking that I should look into getting her a tutor; however that is all I did was think about it. Every time I mentioned it to Laura she would cry and say that she didn’t want a tutor, she promised that she would work harder to bring her math grades up. We continued to go back and forth about this the entire school year until before I knew it her 3rd grade school year was over and we were now facing 4th grade math. In February of 2007 I realized that the math was getting increasingly more difficult for Laura. I would try to help Laura with her work in the evenings and most of the time we would end up frustrated with each other and in the end I had still not accomplished teaching her anything that would help her with testing. In February my husband and I decided to find a tutor for Laura. I visited the website for “Salisbury Tutoring Academy”. I made a phone call and spoke directly with the “Mrs. Beatrice Hair, Director”. This turned out to be one of the most important phone calls I have ever made. We took Laura in for testing to see exactly where she placed in her math work. We were so impressed with idea of one on one tutoring that we enrolled Laura in the Academy. Laura is very receptive of her tutor and looks forward to her session each week. I really didn’t think I would see any real improvements this soon but I was wrong. Not only has Laura’s math grades improved, she is also being tutored in preparation for the EOG. Our experience with the “Salisbury Tutoring Academy” has been a great one; my only regret is that I didn’t do this last year!!!

Salisbury Tutoring Academy has helped me

Salisbury Tutoring Academy has helped me make all A’s on my report card. Mrs. Hair is always there to answer questions for me or any of the other students. My grades have improved and I also feel good about myself. I recommend the Salisbury Tutoring Academy for any student. I feel the academy can only improve yourself.

I enjoyed the course thoroughly!

My name is Katie and I have been enrolled at the STA since October of 2006 For those eight months I have learned many useful techniques and tips to help me with my work at school. I have learned how important it is to be organized and have my materials ready. Test taking has been easier since learning the 5 steps of test taking. My teacher has been patient with me as he taught me many techniques in math. I now feel that I will be able to enter middle school more prepared to do well in school. I plan to continue with one-on-one tutoring at STA to maintain my present level of progress.

Salisbury Tutoring Academy has taught me

Salisbury Tutoring Academy has taught me better study skills that not only have helped me so far in high school, but will also help me in college. I play lacrosse year round and I do not have much time to study, but he tutors at the Salisbury Tutoring Academy have taught me ways that I can memorize things so that what I am learning sticks with me. I don’t forget it the next day. Every week I look forward to coming, because my tutor welcomes me at the STA and cares about me. She doesn’t only care about my school work, but she also cares about making me a better person.

I enjoyed the course thoroughly!

I’m John and I have been at Salisbury Tutoring academy for about 7 months. During my time at Salisbury Tutoring Academy my tutor has helped me to become more organized and helped me to learn how to manage my time. I like the one-on-one approach to helping people learn. Mrs. Hair focuses on the individual and not the group and this is the attention that I needed.

I am currently a fifth grader at Isenberg Elementary.

Hi, my name is Emma and I am currently a fifth grader at Isenberg Elementary. I used to have the feeling that I was a horrible speller and I couldn’t change it. Well, that was before I came to the Salisbury Tutoring Academy. In the past three months I have gone from a fourth grade level to a sixth grade level in fluency. Also, in spelling I have gone from a third grade level to a fourth grade level. The one-on-one tutoring is much better than being in a group. So whether it is for spelling or anything else, Salisbury Tutoring Academy will definitely give you spectacular results.

I enjoyed the course thoroughly!

My name is Daniel and I am writing to thank you for your great help. I was inspired not only to perform better on the SAT, but I also gained confidence in my test taking abilities. Your whole staff is trustworthy, courteous and easy to talk too. The STA inspired me to want to become a teacher. I have received a $26,000.00 scholarship with the Teaching Fellows. I will be attending Western Carolina this fall.

My son suffers from ADHD

My son suffers from ADHD, an articulation disorder, and anxiety. The combination spells disaster for keeping pace at school. In the few weeks he has attended STA, his enthusiasm doing homework has improved (he LIKES to do the STA studies) and he makes comments like, “I know how to do it, my tutor taught me…!” His classroom teacher reports improved testing scores already! In just 5 months he has increased his Star Math test by 2 years!!!! My daughter, Devan, has been a student at the Salisbury Tutoring Academy for the last 6 years. At that time she was very shy and was struggling with her classes at school. Mrs. Hair’s three legged program sure has been a life saver for us. We have gone from struggling to be able to sit down and do her homework without help or frustration. Devan has had her line of tutoring adjusted to be able to correlate her school assignment with her tutoring. Though all of this Devan has maintained the A and A/B honor roll every year. Along with the wonderful grades Devan has excelled in sports events such as basketball at the YMCA, track at her middle school, and is of member of the high school football club. I would highly recommend the Salisbury Tutoring Academy to anyone who feels their child is in need of help. This is a wonderful program with a positive influence for your child.

I have been attending Salisbury Tutoring AcademyMy name is Cala and I have been attending Salisbury Tutoring Academy for about two months. Since receiving the help form my wonderful tutor, my teachers and I have already noticed the improvements in my daily work. Although I’m attending the STA mostly for math and vocabulary, my spelling has improved as well. Everyone here is friendly and the learning techniques they use work great for me. Since being a student here I now feel prepared for all my end of the year exams. Salisbury Tutoring Academy is a great place to learn, and I am very glad to be a student at such a pleasant environment. May 29th 2007

We are the parents of Katie, a second grader who is currently attending the Salisbury Tutoring Academy. We enrolled Katie in the academy to be assisted with language arts and phonics. Prior to tutoring our daughter Katie was struggling with reading and was reading at a pre- kindergarten level. Through intervention and the unique one-on-one teaching style used at the Salisbury Tutoring Academy has made tremendous progress in reading, comprehension and vocabulary. This environment has enable Katie to read at current grade level in less than 8 months of tutoring. Katie has also increased her vocabulary level form a previous level of third grade to a fifth grade level. As parents we are very confident that our daughter has been directed towards the right path and possesses the ability to exceed her learning potential. Katie has been given tools she will need to promote her continuing learning process. This experience has been very gratifying and we have been extremely pleased with the results. We would recommend this tutoring academy without hesitation to any parent with children that may have ADD, or any type of learning disability.
